Who We Are

The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Service Board's (CSB) New Horizons Treatment Center in Alexandria is a residential treatment program for adults diagnosed with a severe mental illness and substance use disorders.



The intensive residential treatment component of the program focuses on education about substance use and mental health problems, developing coping skills, vocational/educational skill development, illness self-management, medication management and the development of life skills to enhance the individual’s ability to live independently in the community.



The aftercare component provides a continuum of services plus an opportunity to implement skills learned during treatment. The program goal is to support individuals in their recovery process so that they can live successfully in a community setting they choose.



Services include: ongoing assessment, education and support for independent living skills, medication management and monitoring, group and individual psychotherapy, treatment for substance use and mental health disorders, recreation and social activities. Case management services are also provided, including linkages to day treatment, self-help groups, vocational and education programs, benefits, health care and housing. Staff support for program graduates moving to the off-site apartment program, peer to peer support, and family support are also provided.

Emergency Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

Intake Process
Call or walk in. Adults ages 18 to 65 may walk in for a same day eligibility screening. Adults over age 65, children and youth, and people with development disability are served by calling Entry and Referral.
